EXPERIENCE OVERVIEW

This unique vacation experience in South Africa combines the bustling energy and big city charms of coastal Cape Town with leisurely tours and tastings at estate wineries and vineyards in the Cape Winelands and exciting safari expeditions in two of the region’s best private game reserves.

Stroll Cape Town’s white sand beaches, view the frolicking African penguins who nest at Boulders Beach, visit the shops and restaurants of Franschhoek, and observe amazing wildlife as you track Africa’s Big Five in the woodlands and plains of nearby Sabi Sands and the southern Kalahari Desert. Each day of this amazing journey will bring exciting new experiences as well as the opportunity to enjoy sumptuous meals, connect with South African culture, and relax with nighttime campfires under the stars.

For this trip, we’ve partnered with Rothschild Safaris, the world’s premiere luxury safari company that specializes in custom African vacations. When paired with Manifest’s special touches and Rothschild Safaris 20+ years of expertise planning extraordinary safaris, you’re guaranteed a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

During your journey, you’ll enjoy deluxe accommodations that feature all the comforts of home. Many of your daily meals and beverages are included, and small touches like libraries, full bars and mini-bars, indoor and outdoor dining spaces, and other amenities will make your stay even more enjoyable. As you venture out from the bustling, beautiful city of Cape Town to the lush Cape Winelands, and into the South African bush, you’ll rest easy each night, surrounded by the comfort and conveniences of some of the region’s best accommodations.

In Cape Town, we’ve arranged for you to have a private, full day  guided tour of the Cape Peninsula with a visit to the iconic Table Mountain. Weather permitting, you’ll enjoy a cable car ride up to the two-mile wide plateau at the top, where you’ll have panoramic views of Devil’s Peak to the east, Lion’s Head to the west, and the city and ocean below. Be sure to bring your camera because the views are spectacular! You’ll also visit the southwestern tip of Africa, known as Cape Point, stopping along the way for lunch and to see the penguins at Boulder Beach. And you’ll enjoy the winding scenic drive towards beautiful Chapman’s Peak, with breathtaking vantage points that rise over 1,900 feet above sea level. This guided tour is a great way to experience Cape Town’s region and learn more about the fascinating history and stories of South Africa.

Another day brings a private guided tour of the Cape Winelands region, complete with visits to some of the area’s top wine estates and vineyards. We’ll arrange for you to tour the wineries, meet with winemakers, and enjoy a private tasting experience at each. You’ll also have time to explore the lovely town of Franschhoek, home to famed eateries, art galleries, artisanal chocolate shops, and wonderful examples of Victorian and Cape Dutch architecture.

For the safari portion of your adventure, you’ll travel to the private Sabi Sands Game Reserve, located in the northeast corner of South Africa, and the remote Tswalu Reserve of the southern Kalahari Desert, located in the Northern Cape.

With 45,000-acres and one of the most bio-diverse wildlife populations on the continent, Sabi Sands is a vibrant year-round reserve pulsing with life. It’s part of the protected Greater Kruger National Park, providing a vast area to explore, and your time here will be spent in the heart of the wilderness, tracking and observing the lions, hyenas, elephants, zebras, and other plains game that roam freely.

The beautiful Tswalu region of the green Kalahari is a breathtaking, picturesque landscape, almost dreamlike in scale and intensity. From the massive Korannaberg Mountains rising above red-sand dunes to the green scrub land that meerkats call home, this expansive tract of privately-owned wilderness not only features an abundance of wildlife, but is also at the forefront of sustainable ecotourism in South Africa.

In both reserves, each day will start early as you head out at dawn to experience wildlife at its most active. You’ll enjoy exciting game drives twice a day—viewing herds of blue wildebeests, impala, giraffes, and other plains animals from the comfort of a 4X4 open-sided vehicle. You’ll track Africa’s “Big Five”—elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, and rhino—within the woodlands and open grasslands. And you’ll walk with your guide to experience unbelievable sightings and close animal observations throughout the day.

This bucket-list trip combines the adventure of a classic African safari with luxury accommodations and an exploration of South Africa’s wine country to create a unique vacation experience. Whether you are looking for a luxury honeymoon, a family adventure, or just an unforgettable getaway, there is something here for everyone.

Your day starts with a spectacular cable car ride up Table Mountain (weather permitting), a flat-topped mountain forming the bulk of Table Mountain National Park. The main feature of the mountain is its level plateau, approximately two miles from side to side, edged by impressive cliffs. The plateau, flanked by Devil’s Peak to the east and by Lion’s Head to the west, forms a dramatic backdrop to Cape Town. This broad sweep of mountainous heights, together with Signal Hill, forms the natural amphitheater of the City Bowl and Table Bay harbor.

Head back down the mountain by cable car and proceed to the Southwestern tip of Africa, known as Cape Point, where it is said that two oceans meet. En route, you will stop at Boulders Beach to observe the famed African penguins as they frolick and nest. Yes, penguins on the beach!

You will continue your drive to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve where you will have an opportunity to view animals like the Cape Mountain zebra, mischievous baboon, and blissful ostrich; all of whom reside in the reserve among the indigenous fynbos. Along your route, you’ll learn how the treacherous rocks running along the Atlantic Seaboard  came to be known as the ‘Ship Graveyard,’ why Bartholomew Diaz called this ‘The Cape of Storms,’ and why Jan Van Riebeeck proclaimed Table Bay as The Cape of Good  Hope.

Spend some time discovering how they aim to succeed, while touring the winery and vineyards.

Then, be swept off to enjoy a delicious lunch at another of the stunning wine estates in the area, Jordan Estate. Following your decadent meal, you will return to your hotel in the late afternoon for an evening at leisure.
