Important Trip Details:
  • Your passport must be valid for six months post your return home from Peru. Please check your passport dates to confirm that you will not need to renew before travel.
  • There are no visa requirements to enter Peru.
  • You must carry proof of Covid vaccination in order to enter Peru, including booster shot(s).
  • Please allow at least three full hours in Lima upon arrival on October 6, 2022, to account for flight delays and passage through customs & immigration.
  • Travel insurance is highly recommended to protect the investment in your trip. Most travel insurance policies require purchase of travel insurance within 14 days of your initial payment in order to cover pre-existing conditions.

ITINERARY

1October 6

  • Arrive at the Lima airport to clear customs & immigration. We will station an airport representative in Lima to help get you through the process as quickly as possible. Board your outbound flight to Cusco. Please allow at least 3 hours in Lima to account for delayed flights and the customs/immigration process. Your guide (who will accompany you for the next 6 days) will meet you at the Cusco airport. Together, you will drive to the Sacred Valley, enjoying lunch along the way and a stop at Manos del la Comunidad to start your immersion into Peruvian culture. 
  • Overnight: Sol y Luna, Sacred Valley

2October 7

  • Wake and enjoy a lovely breakfast at Sol y Luna hotel. Today's activity will allow you to begin the elevation acclimation with a memorable hike along the ancestral routes in the Sacred Valley and a visit to the archeological center of Chinchero. The hike will take 5-6 hours and will be approximately 4-5 miles in length. Following the hike, you will begin your glamping experience, which will combine the beauty of a remote location with a comfortable and sophisticated set up. On a clear night, a bonfire will be lit and you can sit out and enjoy a star-filled sky. 
  • Overnight: Glamping, Sacred Valley (stunning experience...looks amazing!)

3October 8

  • Wake and enjoy breakfast surrounded by pristine mountains and the sun's rays dancing on the lake. Today's hike will include two must-see destinations: Maras and Moray. The picturesque town of Maras and its colonial feel is a perfect pairing with a hike to the Moray salt beds, located 5-6 miles miles away. The elevation for your hike will further promote acclimation, but is relatively flat terrain. 
  • Overnight: Sol y Luna, Sacred Valley

4October 9

  • Early this morning you will wake and begin your transfer to the Ollantaytambo train station to board the vistadome train to km 104, the starting point for your Inca trek. You'll need 6-8 hours to complete the hike and enter the Sun Gate, where you'll stand in awe of Machu Picchu. The Inca trek is roughly 7-8 miles and is unsteady, rocky terrain with many stone steps. Your hard work will be rewarded with a luxurious stay at the Inkaterra Pueblo Hotel in Aguas Calientes. 
  • Overnight: Inkaterra Pueblo Hotel, Aguas Calientes

5October 10

  • Following breakfast, you'll dash off for your scheduled visit of Machu Picchu, where you'll explore the history of the Inca settlement. Following your exploration, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a short hike (1 mile) up one of the surrounding mountains to gain a bird's-eye perspective of Machu Picchu. Following the hike, you'll make your way back into town (Aguas Calientes) to enjoy lunch and the grounds of Inkaterra, time permitting. You'll board the vistadome train back to Cusco. After a full day, you'll enjoy dinner at MAP Cafe and then settle into your accommodations for the evening.

6October 11

  • Wake to a delicious breakfast before heading out for the day. Your guide will provide a lovely overview tour of Cusco, exploring some of the notable cathedrals and markets along the way. You'll visit Sacsayhuman, an ancient fortress built by the Incas and the San Pedro market. You'll have the afternoon to explore Cusco on your own.

7October 12

  • After breakfast, you'll depart for the airport. Today you are flying to Lima. Upon arrival in Lima, you will be met at the airport, then transferred to your hotel to drop your luggage. You'll have the entire day at your leisure to explore and enjoy.

8October 13

  • Enjoy breakfast and spend your last few hours in Peru exploring on your own. At the designated time, you will meet your driver at the Miraflores Hotel for your transfer to the Lima Airport. Board your flight home.
