Awake in the morning to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and take your pick between a morning mountain biking the McKenzie Trail or photographing the stunning landscapes guided by local photographers. That afternoon, a whitewater rafting trip down the McKenzie river is an active and splashy adventure that also offers perfect scenery, with crystal clear water and a forested canyon as your background through the rapids.

On your final day, walk (or, depending on the weather, snowshoe) up a mountain of black glass and learn about the natural and cultural history of Newberry Caldera, a national monument and active volcano! FAQ

What if I’ve never been whitewater rafting?
While the McKenzie River is active and splashy with numerous rapids, they are not large and relatively easy. It’s perfect for beginners! The trip is led by local, expert guides who will also provide all necessary gear and equipment.

How long is the hike on day three?
Many short hikes await you at Newberry Caldera! You may explore the shores of the sparkling Paulina Lake where Native Americans once called home, or your knowledgeable guides can introduce you to an old-growth hemlock forest where you’ll see decaying logs that possess more living mass than when the tree was alive and standing. The trip consists of a combination of short, easy walks totaling just under 2 miles.

If I buy beer or spirits from a local distillery, can I take it home with me?
If the items fit in your suitcase, then it’s no problem transporting on the plane.  However, if the items are too large, then it will have to be shipped back.  Please contact your Manifest Representative, and they can arrange shipping for you.
